This 2D1N eco-adventure takes you to Sabah’s most iconic wildlife destinations while giving you the chance to spend a night deep in the jungle at Tanini Kinabatangan Lodge. Tucked away in Kampung Bilit and reachable only by boat, the lodge is a rustic yet comfortable retreat surrounded by secondary rainforest. Unlike larger resorts, Tanini feels more intimate and village-like, and its eco-conscious practices make it a greener, more sustainable way to experience Borneo.

Your adventure starts in Sandakan, where you’ll encounter rescued orangutans at Sepilok and learn about the world’s smallest bear at the Sun Bear Centre. From there, you’ll venture into the heart of the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary, one of Southeast Asia’s richest ecosystems. This incredible river is home to proboscis monkeys, hornbills, saltwater crocodiles, and the elusive pygmy elephant, making it the best place in Borneo to encounter the Big 5 of Sabah wildlife. With guided river cruises, a night walk through the forest, and an overnight stay at a jungle lodge, this short but rewarding trip offers the perfect taste of Borneo’s wild side.
