Overview of Tour

This 2D1N tour is calling the names of anyone with a heart for adventure as the Aura Montoria trail is a dream for anyone who likes to explore! Hike up hills, trek through jungles and down caves, drink water straight from the mountains, experience cliff jumping and discover hidden waterfalls, while you’re at it!

About the Location

Aura Montoria is located in Kampung Sayap, which is a village located 30 minutes by gravel road from the small town of Kota Belud. Though the village is small, it is home to some of the best hiking trails in Sabah. On this tour, your guides will be the residents of Kampung Sayap themselves and know the trails in and out. You’ll be happy to know that by participating in this tour, the proceeds will help to sustain the guides’ livelihood as well as the community. There will also be an optional visit to the school built by the community, which is where most of the conducted tour proceeds go to.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

Kota Kinabalu / Kota Belud / Kampung Sayap

It’s an early start to the day as we leave Kota Kinabalu for Kampung Sayap at 06:30 hrs.
After 1.5 to 2 hours, we reach the starting point of the Aura Montoria trail!
Have a local breakfast and a short rest before continuing our hike on the Aura Montoria trail.
Upon arrival at the campsite, take a short break and have lunch.
After lunch, set up camp for the night.
Have a homecooked dinner and overnight at Aura Montoria campsite.

Day 2

Cliff Jumping / Kota Belud / Kota Kinabalu

Rise and shine! It’s time to get ready for the day’s hike with a local breakfast.
Embark on a 10 to 15-minute trek to "Lubuk Hijau" for an awesome cliff-jumping experience!
After cliff jumping, head back to the campsite to pack up and head back to the starting point. (Lunch will be at starting point)
It’s time to bid farewell! Depart for Kota Kinabalu city.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Accommodation is clean and well maintained - however, very basic. Bringing along a sleeping bag is not necessary, but you may do so for extra comfort.
Overnight necessities such as towels, and basic toiletries is necessary to bring along.
Food is of good quality. Do take note that it is prepared locally by the local people, so there are limitations if you have special dietary requirements.
Effective as of 1st September 2017, the Tourism and Culture Ministry of Malaysia will be implementing a Malaysian Tourism Tax (TTX). Foreign tourists will be required to pay a flat rate of MYR 10 per room per night regardless of accommodation star level. The TTx is to be paid upon check-in. Malaysians or permanent residents residing in Malaysia are exempted from TTx and is required to present a valid identification upon check-in for the exemption. The TTX is applicable to certain types of accommodation only. Please check with us to see if TTX is applicable to your accommodation.
