Day 1 Sandakan / Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre / Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre / Bilit Rainforest Lodge / Kinabatangan River Cruise Your adventure begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel or Sandakan Airport. Head to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre within the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, where you'll watch an informative documentary and witness orangutan during their feeding time in their natural habitat. Visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to learn about the conservation of the world's smallest bears, known for their distinctive crescent-shaped chest markings. Travel to Bilit Jetty and enjoy a scenic boat ride to Bilit Rainforest Lodge in Bilit Village, an eco-lodge located along the banks of the iconic Kinabatangan River. Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome drink and lunch. In the evening, take a river cruise along Kinabatangan River, where you may spot proboscis monkeys, rare birds, and even pygmy elephants. Day 2 Morning River Cruise or Jungle Trek / Kinabatangan River Cruise Start your day with an optional morning river cruise on Kinabatangan River or a jungle trek to the Kelenanap Oxbow Lake, offering opportunities to see various bird and wildlife species. After breakfast, enjoy some free time or choose additional activities, such as a guided jungle walk (at additional cost). In the afternoon, set off on another river cruise to observe more wildlife. The second longest river in Malaysia, Kinabatangan River is considered a hotbed of wildlife activity, with opportunities to spot pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and more. Day 3 Sandakan / Rainforest Discovery Centre After breakfast, check out and embark on a 2-hour journey back to Sandakan. Before checking into your accommodation, visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre, where you can learn about forest restoration efforts and explore the 363-metre canopy walkway. Day 6 Sandakan / Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary After breakfast, check out of Lankayan Island Dive Resort. Take a boat back to the jetty, then transfer by land to Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary. First established in 2000, the 400-acre site was originally meant to be developed into an oil palm estate. But when the owners discovered a small population of proboscis monkeys living within the site, plans for palm oil were quickly replaced with plans for a wildlife sanctuary instead. At last count, there were about 150 proboscis monkeys residing within Labuk Bay. Here, you can witness not only Proboscis Monkeys but also other wildlife such as Small Clawed Otters and Silvered Leaf Monkeys, in their natural environment. Day 7 Borneo Rainforest Lodge / Nature Trails / Treetop Canopy Walk / Night Safari Drive After breakfast, check out and embark on a 4.5-hour overland journey to the Danum Valley Conservation Area, Sabah's largest protected lowland rainforest. Check-in at the award-winning Borneo Rainforest Lodge, offering the pinnacles of tropical eco-luxury amidst the dense, ancient rainforests of Danum Valley. Enjoy lunch at the lodge, followed by an introductory presentation in the Conference Room. Explore the nature trails around the lodge, stopping at the 300m long, 26m high Canopy Walkway for a close-up view of the rainforest. After dinner, join a night safari drive in an open-top vehicle to search for nocturnal animals, weather permitting. Descend to the nearby Natural Jacuzzi Pool for a refreshing dip before returning to the lodge for lunch. In the late afternoon, you have the option to either go on another jungle trek or enjoy a fun session of tubing down Danum River.
