FOR DAY 2 / REGARDING BORNEO RAINFOREST STAY

1. Closure of Canopy Walkway

Kindly noted that Borneo Rainforest Lodge Canopy Walkway for Entrance A, B, C are closed until further notice.
Access is now from Entrance F.

 

2. Closure of Tekala Bridge (to / from BRL)

Please be advised that the repair works to Tekala Bridge at Segama River (at KM65 on Main Line West) will be commence on 19th September 2018, and closure will be in place through September and October 2018 (This is the approximate timeline and will be vary depend on weather and other factors).

In the interim, guest transfers to BRL will be diverted to a river crossing of approximately 65 meters with our four-wheel drive vehicles at a maximum vehicle wading depth of 0.5 meters. 

In the event of high-water levels, the alternative arrangement for river crossing will be as follows:

  • 2 units of 2-seater boat will be placed on standy for crossover procedure, followed by 4WD vehichle transfer to lodge
  • Guest are strictly advice to wear life jackets provided

During repairing period, there may be occassions where the lodge ned to retime guest transfers to ensure minimum disruptions to travel plans. Please enquire with us for more information. Apology for any inconvenience caused.

  • Rate Per Person is based on Join-In Tour Basis (shared guide & vehicle).
  • All rates displayed are quoted in Ringgit Malaysia (MYR).

OVERVIEW OF TOUR

Approximately 80 metres west of Lahad Datu, soak in the tranquil ambience of Sabah’s east coast at the Danum Valley Field Centre, a pristine rainforest reserve, for a quintessentially Bornean experience.

Right at the break of dawn, brave an arduous trek up Bukit Atur for an unforgettable sunrise; escape the midday heat at a refreshing river; relax at the foot of a waterfall in a hammock or test your luck at encountering the nocturnal residents of the area at nightfall.

The Danum Valley Field Centre is home to over 500 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, a variety of towering tropical trees, lingering lianas, exotic orchids, and overhanging epiphytes.

Located in the south east coast of Sabah, the award-winning Borneo Rainforest Lodge is nestled 2 hours out of Lahad Datu and sits alongside the Danum River. Stay in one of their 31 chalets as you are surrounded by the beauty of the 43,800-hectare Danum Valley Conservation Centre.

The pristine rainforest is home to more than 340 species of Birds, 124 species of Mammals, 72 species of Reptiles, 56 species of Amphibians, and a staggering 200 species of Plants per hectare.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

LAHAD DATU / DANUM VALLEY FIELD CENTRE / NIGHT DRIVE

  • Pick up from Lahad Datu Airport.
  • Depart for an overland trip to Danum Valley Field Centre.
  • Upon arrival, you will be treated to a scrumptious lunch after a long journey.
  • After lunch, it’s time for a self-guided 500-metre jungle walk to marvel at the beauty and experience the pristine ambience of the rainforest.
  • Return to Danum Valley Field Centre for some rest.
  • Refuel with a hearty dinner at the Resthouse Dining Hall.
  • After dinner, you’ll head off on a Night Drive to observe as Bornean nocturnal wildlife come alive and active at night. (If the weather permits)
  • It's time to get some shut-eye with an overnight stay at Danum Valley Field Centre.

Day 2

SUNRISE OBSERVATORY TOWER / BORNEO RAINFOREST LODGE / NATURE TRAILS CANOPY WALK / NIGHT DRIVE

  • Awake bright and early for a morning hike to the Observatory Tower where you’ll have the opportunity to witness wildlife begin their day and to catch a sunrise.
  • It’s time to fuel up with some breakfast!
  • Pack up and prepare for your transfer to Borneo Rainforest Lodge.
  • Lunch will be served upon arrival at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge.
  • After lunch, it's time to head out for an afternoon forest "Nature Trails" trek and a treetop "Canopy Walk" for a close-up observation of the rainforest.
  • Head back for dinner at the lodge.
  • After dinner, it’s out on a Night Drive in an open-top vehicle in search of nocturnal creatures. (If the weather permits)
  • Return to the lodge to relax before spending the night at Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

Day 3

JUNGLE TREK / KADAZANDUSUN BURIAL SITE - COFFIN CLIFF / JACUZZI POOL MORNING DIP / NIGHT WALK

  • Rise and shine! Grab yourself some breakfast.
  • Head out for a morning jungle trek to a Kadazandusun burial site “Coffin Cliff” before proceeding to the “View Point” for a bird’s eye view of the surrounding area
  • Upon descending to the “Jacuzzi Pool”, enjoy a refreshing morning dip.
  • Make your way back for some lunch.
  • After lunch, enjoy some free and easy time to yourself. Snap some memories for keeps.
  • It’s time to go searching for nocturnal animals on Night Walk.
  • After an exciting day, rest well with an overnight stay at Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

Day 4

JUNGLE TREK - FAIRY FALLS AND SERPENT FALLS / RELAXING TUBING IN DANUM RIVER

  • Be awakened by the sounds of Bornean wildlife as you grab your breakfast.
  • Head out for a morning jungle trek to the Fairy Falls and Serpent Falls to experience more sights and sounds of the rainforest.
  • Return to the lodge for some lunch.
  • It’s time for a relaxing “tubing” session down the Danum River.
  • Recharge with some dinner at the lodge.
  • After dinner, have yourself some free and easy time before spending the night at Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

  • Please ensure you are holding air ticket to Lahad Datu.
  • Cell phone coverage is available. However, it can sometimes be disrupted due to rain downpour and satellite malfunction.
  • Danum Valley Field Centre (DFVC) electricity is powered by Generators. The generators will cease at 00:00 – 07:00 hours. You may need to prepare a torchlight, while Borneo Rainforest Lodge (BRL) electricity is powered 24 hours.
  • Effective as of 1st September 2017, the Tourism and Culture Ministry of Malaysia will be implementing a Malaysian Tourism Tax (TTX). Foreign tourists will be required to pay a flat rate of MYR 10 per room per night regardless of accommodation star level. The TTx is to be paid upon check-in. Malaysians or permanent residents residing in Malaysia are exempted from TTx and is required to present a valid identification upon check-in for the exemption.
