Discover wonders of the plant kingdom at Kinabalu National Park, witness the 140 million-year-old rainforest of Borneo from a tree-top canopy walk-way, take a nice dip in rock-pools of mineral-infused hot springs and cozy up in nature’s lap as you spend a night in the stunningly scenic foothills of Mount Kinabalu.

About The Location

Kinabalu National Park : Kinabalu National Park is Malaysia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Kinabalu UNESCO Global Geopark, floristically fantastic with an estimated 5,000-6,000 vascular plant species and identified as a globally important Centre of Plant Endemism. Set at 1,500m above sea level, this 754sq kilometer park features one the Tallest Mountains in all of South East Asia as its center piece, Mount Kinabalu-- rising at 4.095.2m with cloud-hugging peaks that catches breaths, enchants eyes and shading valleys below…. Certainly a sight to behold from Kinabalu National Park. Also within the park, restaurants amidst lush montane forests, a botanic garden boasting plant species endemic to Mount Kinabalu as well as nature trails varying in length, from 20 minutes to 2-3 hours.

Poring Hot Springs : This little Nature Reserve is the perfect place for a more relaxed jungle experience with its canopy walkways and warm therapeutic sulphur hot springs. Within the nature reserve, see the treetops like the orangutans do! Poring’s canopy walkway invites you to witness the grandeur and glory of a 100 million year old rainforest from a 105m length walkway suspended 30m above unspoiled flora. Besides the various nature trails snaking through both the forest floor and amidst treetops, the park also feature a beautifully landscaped garden hosting Poring’s best known tonic for mind and body— mineral-rich hot-springs bubbling from deep in the earth.

Desa Cow Farm : A popular tourist attraction, the Desa Cow Farm is known as the little New Zealand of Sabah. Offering vast, green pastures where Fresian cows roam free, this 199-hectar stretch produces nearly a million liters of fresh milk annually. Learn the ins and outs of how milk is processed and have yourself fresh milk yoghurt right after! Get up close and add a personal touch to the experience by bottle feeding calves, an activity families will surely enjoy. With Mount Kinabalu as your backdrop, don’t miss out on a chance to snap some photos while you’re there!

Reviews

  • Chiara Pinnavaia 30/04/2024 Italy

Thanks to Amazing Borneo Tours for letting me discover Sabah in a perfect way.

First of all, thanks to Anthony Wong and his entire team who helped me since January to plan my trip to Borneo in April.

Everything was perfect: the booking experience, the daily contacts (I received a message every day with all the information for the next day's schedule), the transfers, the ACCOMMODATION (wow!), and the guides (Richard is really nice :) ).

I highly recommend booking your Borneo experience with Amazing Borneo Tours!

  • SookFoon 06/04/2024 Singapore

This tour offers opportunities to view the majestic trees. My group was fortunate to catch glimpses of Bornean White-Breaded Gibbons and Bornean Pygmy Squirrels. Please note that getting to the start of the canopy walk requires a 20 to 30-minute hike.

Our group also visited the Kipungit Waterfall, a short 15-minute walk from the Park entrance. It is well worth the visit, even if the height of the fall is not impressive. It is a cool place to stop over and have morning tea.

The highlight of our tour was the unexpected opportunity to view two Raffesia in bloom!

Joel, our guide from Amazing Borneo, is knowledgeable and informative. He has a keen eye for spotting wildlife and pointed them out to us.

  • Zainudin 29/02/2024 Singapore

The trip was memorable and enjoyable. Knowledgeable tour guide Yung and driver Vincent were amazing and fun with the family. Good job! Continue doing so. I would request him the next time we have a trip to Sabah again.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

Kota Kinabalu / Tamparuli Town / Nabalu Market / Desa Cow Farm / Kundasang

Upon pick up from the hotel lobby, you will be whooshed straight into Sabah's lush countryside. The first stop will be Tamparuli Town for a walk on the famous “Jambatan Tamparuli” suspension bridge and soak up the small-town charm.

The next stop will be at the Nabalu Handicraft Market. Nabalu is a rustic point perched on the hillside, where the local natives gather to sell local produce, fruits, homegrown vegetables and handicraft souvenirs.

Enjoy lunch at the local restaurant.

Your next agenda will be visiting Desa Cow Farm. When you see the roads grow narrow along the way and the landscape gives your rear-view mirror licks of fresh green sceneries, the 199-hectare stretch of pristine farmland on the foothills of Mount Kinabalu means you have reached the Desa Cattle Farm!

Cattle graze the green valley pastures to provide nearly one million litres of mountain-fresh milk annually, all while travellers both near and far enjoy the outrageously scenic view that plays the backdrop to this dairy farm. You can get close to the cattle, bottle feed the calves, and enjoy fresh milk or yoghurt produced straight off the farm.

Then, transfer to Kundasang and check into a mountain resort. You will notice the change in air temperature at this elevated level.

You are free to explore the resort at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at the mountain resort.

Lunch / Dinner Mountain Resort

Day 2

Poring Hot Spring & Canopy Treetop Walk / Kinabalu Park / Kota Kinabalu

On your second day, you will wake up to a misty morning ushering in views of sun-draped Mount Kinabalu. Birds chirp away while low-hanging clouds blanket the valleys.

The first stop for the day will be the Poring Hot Springs with an immersive exploration of Mount Kinabalu's treetops. The Canopy Treetop Walk invites you to witness the grandeur of a hundred million years old rainforest from a 175m length walkway suspended 60 meters above lush jungly tangles. Take in the sights and sounds and discover unique rainforest creatures from a bird's eye view. A 20 minutes hike is needed to reach the Canopy Walkway.

Then, it's time for a soothing sulphur bath in the Japanese-styled open-air tubs! Dip in the all-natural mineral-rich hot springs water, surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. There is also a cold water pool nearby for those who prefer a cold dip.

Enjoy lunch at the local restaurant.

Next up on the day's agenda is the visit to Malaysia's first-ever UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Kinabalu UNESCO Global Geopark, Kinabalu National Park. Set at 1,500m above sea level, this 754sq kilometre park features one the tallest mountains in all of South East Asia as its centrepiece—Mount Kinabalu. Rising at 4,095.2m with cloud-hugging peaks that shade the valleys below, the majestic mountain is certainly a sight to behold from Kinabalu National Park.

Enjoy the refreshing and cooling air as you proceed for a guided walk along the nature trails in the Botanical Garden and learn more about Kinabalu Park's biological treasure trove.

Afterwards, depart to Kota Kinabalu city, where we will drop you off at your hotel.
