Arrival / Deer & Lang Caves / Bat Exodus
Upon arrival at Mulu Airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation for check-in.
After checking in, head to the park cafe for your lunch.
At 1400hrs, gather for a safety briefing led by our local guide.
Embark on a 3KM walk along almost-flat raised plank paths, taking 40 minutes to 1 hour to reach the Bat Observatory. Continue your journey by walking an additional 500m to discover one of the world's largest cave passages, housing over 3 million Wrinkle Lipped bats.
Deer Cave, another fascinating destination, is home to a substantial number of swiftlets. The high cave ceilings, exceeding 100m in some areas, offer a secure refuge for these birds against predators.
Marvel at the sheer size of this limestone passage, an ancient riverbed showcasing the force of water carving scalloped walls.
Upon reaching the green oasis of the Garden of Eden, having covered 800m inside Deer Cave, relish the sight of Adam and Eve's showers – a unique showerhead formation with water columns spouting 30m to the riverbed below.
Returning along a similar path with different perspectives, explore Lang's Cave, adorned with magnificent limestone shawls, stalagmites, and stalactites. This smaller cave provides a closer view of bats and the shimmering webs of threadworm larvae, a charming feature of Mulu Caves.
The tour is strategically timed to coincide with the bat exodus, anticipated to commence anytime after 1700hr.
Following the captivating bat exodus, return to your accommodation. Dinner will be served before you go to rest and unwind overnight.
