About The Location

INFAPRO Reforestation Site
INFAPRO (INnoprise-Face PROject) is a long-running reforestation initiative located in the Ulu Segama Forest Reserve, just outside the Danum Valley Conservation Area. Active since the 1990s, the project aims to restore previously logged forest through native tree planting and corridor rehabilitation. Today, it also functions as a peaceful eco-base with comfortable resthouses and 24-hour electricity, offering visitors a convenient and conservation-focused gateway to the Danum rainforest.

Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC)
The Danum Valley Field Centre is a world-renowned research outpost located on the edge of the Danum Valley Conservation Area. Originally established for scientists and conservationists, it now welcomes eco-tourists seeking close encounters with Borneo’s rare wildlife. Basic accommodations and access to pristine rainforest trails make DVFC a popular base for wildlife enthusiasts, birdwatchers, and nature photographers looking to explore this ancient ecosystem up close.

Danum Valley Conservation Area (DVCA)
The Danum Valley Conservation Area is one of Southeast Asia’s most important protected rainforests. Spanning over 43,800 hectares of undisturbed primary forest, it shelters some of Borneo’s most iconic species – including orangutans, clouded leopards, sun bears, and over 340 bird species. As a Class I Protection Forest, it offers one of the last strongholds for biodiversity in Sabah, making it a bucket-list destination for nature lovers and researchers alike.

Ulu Segama Forest Reserve

Day 1

Meet your guide in Lahad Datu by 08:30 Hrs for a scenic 2.5-hour drive through the lush landscapes of Sabah to reach INFAPRO, a conservation base focused on rainforest restoration. 

After a warm welcome and check-in to the comfortable INFAPRO resthouses, enjoy a hearty lunch and take a short break. 

In the afternoon, set off on your first 4x4 safari drive into Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC), a biodiversity hotspot teeming with primates, hornbills, and more. 

With your nature guide, explore rainforest trails and get your first taste of the jungle’s sights, sounds, and scents. 

Return to INFAPRO before dusk for dinner, then embark on a night drive in search of nocturnal species such as civets, frogs, and vipers.

Rise at dawn for an early morning safari drive back to DVFC, the perfect time to spot shy or active wildlife before the forest heats up. 

Enjoy a packed breakfast amid the natural surroundings before continuing on foot for a guided nature walk, with your guide interpreting tracks, birdcalls, and signs of larger mammals. 

After returning to INFAPRO for lunch, head out again for an afternoon safari drive to cover more ground and trails, deepening your rainforest immersion. 

As the sun sets, join a night walk to explore the forest by torchlight, followed by a relaxed 4x4 night drive for a final glimpse of Borneo’s nocturnal life.

Bukit Atur Sunrise / INFAPRO / Lahad Datu

  • Effective as of 1st September 2017, the Tourism and Culture Ministry of Malaysia will be implementing a Malaysian Tourism Tax (TTx). Foreign tourists will be required to pay a flat rate of MYR 10 per room per night regardless of accommodation star level. The TTx is to be paid upon check-in. Malaysians or permanent residents residing in Malaysia are exempted from TTx and is required to present a valid identification upon check-in for the exemption. 

  • This package is based on join-in basis of shared guide and transport vehicle. Private Guide or Tour is available upon request at a reasonable fee. Please inform us when making the bookings.
