Tour Overview

This 3D2N tour across Sandakan and Kinabatangan is an ideal introduction to Sabah’s tropical lowland rainforests and diverse wildlife. Designed for nature lovers and first-time visitors, the tour combines meaningful wildlife experiences with a comfortable stay at Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort.

Your journey begins in Sepilok, home to some of Sabah’s most important conservation centres. Visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, and the Rainforest Discovery Centre, where you will encounter rescued wildlife, walk through rainforest trails, and spot birds along treetop walkways.

From there, explore the limestone chambers of Gomantong Cave before heading to the Kinabatangan River, one of Borneo’s best places for wildlife viewing. Cruise through river channels in search of the Borneo Big 5, including orangutans, proboscis monkeys, rhinoceros hornbills, estuarine crocodiles, and possibly even pygmy elephants. On your final day, visit Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary for a close look at these unique and endemic primates before returning to Sandakan. This short yet enriching journey offers the perfect blend of comfort, discovery, and nature.

Arrive at Sandakan Airport and begin your adventure with a visit to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Learn about Sabah’s most iconic primates and observe them up close during feeding time. Next, visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to see the world’s smallest bear species and hear their conservation story.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the Rainforest Discovery Centre. Explore canopy walkways, rainforest trails, and botanical gardens rich in birdlife.

End the day with a seafood dinner at a local restaurant, then check in to Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort for your overnight stay.

Day 2

Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort / Gomantong Cave / Kinabatangan River Cruise

After breakfast, depart at 09:00 Hrs for Gomantong Cave, famous for its limestone formations and thriving swiftlet and bat populations. Take a guided walk through the forest and cave to learn about its ecological significance.

Continue to Bilit along the Kinabatangan River. After lunch at a riverside lodge, head out on a wildlife river cruise to search for proboscis monkeys, hornbills, crocodiles, and possibly even wild pygmy elephants.

Return to Sepilok after dinner for another peaceful night at Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to Sandakan Airport for your onward journey.
