Your journey begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel lobby or Sandakan Airport. 

Start your adventure at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, located in the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. After a briefing, enjoy a documentary on orangutan rehabilitation, followed by an opportunity to observe these remarkable creatures in their natural habitat during feeding time. 

Next, visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, home to the world’s smallest bears, easily recognised by their unique crescent chest markings. 

Travel to Bilit Jetty and take a scenic boat ride to Bilit Rainforest Lodge, an eco-lodge located in Bilit Village along the banks of Kinabatangan River. 

Upon check-in at Bilit Rainforest Lodge, enjoy a welcome drink and lunch. 

In the evening, embark on a river cruise along the Kinabatangan River, where you may spot proboscis monkeys, rare birds, and possibly pygmy elephants. 

End the day with a delightful dinner and the option to join a complimentary night safari cruise or relax at the lodge. 

Begin your day with an optional morning river cruise along the Kinabatangan River or hike to the Kelenanap Oxbow Lake, offering chances to spot diverse bird and wildlife species. 

After breakfast, enjoy some leisure time or opt for additional activities like a guided jungle walk (at additional cost). 

In the afternoon, set out on another river cruise to observe more wildlife. The second longest river in Malaysia, Kinabatangan River is considered a hotbed of wildlife activity. 

Relax and enjoy dinner at the lodge’s dining hall, followed by free time to soak in the serene jungle surroundings. 

After breakfast, check out and embark on a 2-hour drive back to Sandakan. 

Before checking in at your Sandakan accommodation, visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre to learn about forest restoration efforts at Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve and explore their impressive 363-metre-long canopy walkway. 

Transfer to your Sandakan accommodation, where you can spend the rest of your day at leisure. 

After breakfast, check out of your Sandakan accommodation and transfer to Sandakan PSR Jetty, a 30-minute drive away. 

Take a 90-minute speedboat ride to Lankayan Island, enjoying scenic ocean views along the way. 

Check in at Lankayan Island Dive Resort and relax amidst the island’s serene natural beauty. 

This day is yours to enjoy at your leisure. 

Take advantage of the island’s natural beauty with activities like swimming, snorkelling, and ocean kayaking.

After breakfast, check out of Lankayan Island Dive Resort. 

Take a boat back to the jetty, then transfer overland to Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, a 400-acre site that was initially supposed to be developed into a palm oil plantation. However, when the owners discovered Proboscis Monkeys inhabiting the site, plans quickly changed into that of a wildlife sanctuary instead. The most recent count estimates a total of around 150 Proboscis Monkeys residing within the sanctuary’s bounds. 

Here, witness Proboscis Monkeys and other wildlife, such as Small Clawed Otters and Silver Leafed Monkeys, in their natural habitat. 

After lunch, transfer to your Sandakan accommodation, where you can check-in and unwind for the remainder of the day. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Check out and depart at 0830hrs for a 4.5-hour overland journey to Danum Valley Conservation Area (DVCA), passing through regenerating forests and pristine 130-million-year-old rainforest. 

Upon arrival at Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC), register at the DVCA Reception & Information Building and check in after a briefing by DVFC staff. 

Enjoy lunch at the dining hall before discussing your itinerary with your nature guide. Your itinerary at DVFC is customisable and can be tailored according to your interests. 

Take a mid-afternoon walk around the centre to get acquainted with the rainforest, where you might spot orangutans, red leaf monkeys, and hornbills. 

Return to the centre by 1900hrs for dinner, followed by a 4x4 night drive to spot nocturnal wildlife, weather permitting. Some nocturnal creatures you may have the chance to see at night include civets, leopard cats, moonrats, and a diverse array of frogs, vipers, and insects. 

Wake up early for morning nature and wildlife observation with your guide at 0600hrs, immersing yourself in the pristine tropical rainforest. 

After breakfast, explore the trails around the centre or unwind before lunch. 

In the afternoon, take another trek on one of the many trails that surround the field centre. You can rely on your guide to select a trail most suited to your fitness level. 

After dinner, join a night walk to observe nocturnal animals, weather permitting. 

Rise early at 0430hrs for a 4x4 drive to Bukit Atur to witness the sunrise above the forest canopy, or sleep in a little bit and take a morning walk with your guide at 0600hrs. 

After breakfast, relax or explore nearby trails before checking out at 1030hrs. 

Transfer to Lahad Datu Airport for your flight to Kota Kinabalu. 

Upon arrival in Kota Kinabalu, proceed to Shangri-La Rasa Ria, where the rest of the day is yours to spend at your leisure. 

Enjoy a luxurious breakfast and relax on Shangri-La Rasa Ria’s private beach. 

Explore the resort’s pools, gym, golf course, and other amenities, or join optional activities such as rainforest hikes, kayaking, or bodyboarding (at additional cost). 

Indulge in a variety of dining options, or take part in resort-organised tours and activities. 

After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Kota Kinabalu.
