The first platform of its kind in Malaysia was built by Nick Chue.
SabahTravel.com lets independent operators across the state set their own prices, manage their own listings and take bookings in one place, and he built it from scratch.
Most tour companies have a website. Amazing Borneo has platforms. MountKinabalu.com carries live slot availability, so climbers can plan their trip around the dates genuinely open to them, alongside daily weather updates for the mountain itself. SabahTravel.com runs a marketplace of independent suppliers, each managing their own inventory. These are not mere brochures with an enquiry form attached.

That distinction carries real weight. Many of Amazing Borneo’s guests book from the other side of the world, and the websites have to earn that confidence on their own: clear enough that a visitor understands exactly what they are buying, and solid enough that they are willing to pay for it before ever setting foot in Malaysia.
Nick joined in 2013 as a senior web programmer and worked up through lead web developer, software engineer and lead software engineer. Apart from a year away in 2018, he has been a constant since and is now Amazing Borneo’s Chief Technology Officer.

Distance has never affected how present he is. He works from Penang, across the South China Sea from the main office in Kota Kinabalu, and replies arrive almost immediately, whatever the hour. When something goes wrong with the systems, he is usually the first to know and the first to act.
He is also the company’s standing source on anything technical. Problems and requests come to him from every department, and he treats each one as a chance to build the team’s capability rather than simply close the ticket. He shows people how it is done, so that the next time it comes up they can manage without him. The team is more capable for it.
The technology team has grown considerably since 2013, and much of what it builds today stands on foundations Nick laid first. MalaysiaTravel.com was built on them too, extending to the whole country what he first built for Sabah. He continues to lead the development of new features across the group’s websites.
