OVERVIEW OF LOCATION

Only a 3-hour drive from Kota Kinabalu to Kudat, you will not want to miss a stay at the TSM Merrimas Villa. With your own private beach just below the villa, awake to a gorgeous sunrise and be in awe of both the South China Sea and Sulu Sea when you take a 5-minute stroll over to the Tip of Borneo.

For those who enjoy getting up close and personal with marine life, you’re in luck! Kudat boasts magnificent snorkelling locations with a plethora of vibrant, colourful coral reefs spread across 4 locations, each with its own unique seabed, and a variety of marine life such as clownfish, rainbow fish, flying fish, flower jelly fish, and blue starfish. And along our snorkelling escapade, a stopover at the Light House Island is a must as we are able to spot sea snakes and sea turtles build their nests and explore a small bat cave. Another attraction at the island is a big, weathered reef stone shaped like a man looking at this big toe!

Don’t leave your cameras behind because the sunsets here make for the perfect transition from day to night. No two photos of the sunset at Kudat will be the same as each day presents you with something different and guaranteed to have you filling up your camera with gorgeous snaps!

Just when you thought the fun is over, you’ll be in for a treat once you take a look up and be dazzled by nature’s night lights. Sweep your loved ones off their feet and take a romantic stroll to witness the bioluminescent “Blue Tears” washing up along the beach as you make your way back to your villa.

Sample itinerary

Day 1 - KOTA KINABALU / KUDAT TSM MERRIMAS VILLA / SNORKELING / TIP OF BORNEO STARGAZING / “BLUE TEARS” WATCHING

  • 08:45hrs: Departure from hotel in Kota Kinabalu city.
  • 10:00hrs: Short pit stop at the paddy fields along the way for a photo-taking session. If you are lucky, you will get the majestic Mount Kinabalu as your backdrop. 
  • 12:00hrs: Arrive at TSM Merrimas Villa, Kudat.
  • 12:30hrs: Enjoy a decadent seafood lunch upon arrival.
  • 13:00hrs: Check-in and leisure time to yourself to settle in.
  • 14:30hrs: Prepare to depart for snorkelling activities at Lobster Bay and Undersea Trench Bay.
  • 16:30hrs: Head back to the shores of Sunset Beach for a leisurely walk along the beach whilst waiting for the sun to set.
  • 18:00hrs: Cameras at the ready! The sunset at Kudat is a grand spectacle you would not want to miss. 
  • 19:00hrs: A short walk back to the villa to indulge in more seafood for dinner.
  • 20:00hrs: Return to your room to freshen up after a long day of fun in the sun.
  • 20:30hrs: The first activity of the night includes a short walk to the Tip of Borneo for stargazing if the weather permits. 
  • 21:30hrs: After an awe-inspiring sight of the stars above, look down and witness the bioluminescent “Blue Tears” trailed along the beach.
  • 22:30hrs: Head back to the villa. Join us for some singing and beer (self-expenses) at the music festival platform before ending the night with an overnight stay at TSM Merrimas Villa.

Day 2 - SNORKELING / LIGHT HOUSE / TIP OF BORNEO / KOTA KINABALU

  • 0530hrs: After a good night’s rest, awake bright and early to witness the sunrise over the Sulu Sea.
  • 0630hrs: Due to the low tides in the morning, you’re able to get a close encounter with some marine wildlife.
  • 0730hrs: Return to the villa for breakfast.
  • 0800hrs: Prepare to depart for snorkelling activities at the Sulu Sea where we will be making 2 snorkelling point stops at Rainbow Colour Bay and Sandy Bar Bay.
  • 1000hrs: After our snorkelling sessions, we will make our way over to the Light House Island where we can see sea snakes and sea turtles in their natural habitat as they build their nests.
  • 1030hrs: Return to the villa to freshen up and for some leisure time to rest.
  • 1200hrs: Check-out of the room, followed by another scrumptious seafood ensemble for lunch.
  • 1300hrs: We will take one final walk to the Tip of Borneo to enjoy the view of the South China Sea and Sulu Sea. This is your chance to take more gorgeous photos before heading back!
  • 1400hrs: Depart for Kota Kinabalu.
  • 1700hrs: Arrival at Kota Kinabalu.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

  • The tropical weather in North Borneo is highly temperamental, making it difficult to predict the best season for scuba diving.
  • Kindly note that you are responsible for the safe keeping of your belongings at all time. We do not encourage guests bringing along electronic devices, valuables and important documents.
  • Please check with us if you have any special dietary request, e.g. vegetarian. We however do not guarantee that we will be able to meet all requests.

  • Baby Car Seats (for infant aged 0-2) and Child Booster Seats (for children aged 3-11) are available for rental. Please check with your sales consultant for availability.
  • This package is based on join-in basis of shared guide and transport vehicle.  Private Guide or Tour is available upon request at a reasonable fee.  Please inform us when making the bookings. 
  • Room allocation is based on RUN OF HOUSE (ROH) basis. Choosing of room by number will not be entertained.
  • Your safety is our top priority. Should the weather or sea conditions render it unsafe to proceed for this tour, Amazing Borneo Tours reserves the right to change or cancel tour. Tour will be refunded accordingly.

USEFUL TRAVEL TIPS

  • Your belongings may get wet. You can bring along waterproof bags such as dry bags or plastic bags to keep your belongings nice and dry!
  • Before going out for some fun in the sun, you may bring along some SPF50 sunscreen and an umbrella to protect your skin.
