Peak You Will Conquer

  • Low’s Peak (4,095.2m) – The highest point in Southeast Asia, offering panoramic sunrise views above the clouds 
  • Oyayubi Iwu Peak (~4,000m) – Named after its thumb-like appearance, this peak adds a dramatic ridge challenge to the route 
  • Alexandra Peak (3,997.5m) – A lesser-seen summit that reveals stunning alpine views and unique geological features 
  • Victoria Peak (4,090m) – A commanding presence near the summit plateau with sweeping vistas and alpine silence 

Sample itinerary

Day 1 - Kota Kinabalu / Kundasang / Kinabalu Park HQ

(Note: The itinerary provided is a sample and subject to change based on operational or environmental factors.)

Enjoy a convenient pick-up from Kota Kinabalu and transfer 2.5 hours to Kinabalu Park HQ.

At the park headquarters, all participants are required to present their passport, a signed health check-up form completed by a certified medical officer, a complete name list, and a climber's indemnity form. 

Accommodation for the night will be provided either within Kinabalu Park or nearby Kundasang, allowing you to acclimate to the mountain environment and rest before the ascent begins.

Day 2 - Kinabalu Park HQ / Timpohon Gate / Panalaban Base Camp

Your day begins early with registration at Kinabalu Park between 07:30 Hrs and 09:00 Hrs. Following a mandatory safety briefing, climbers are transported to Timpohon Gate – the official starting point of the Mount Kinabalu trail. 

From here, you’ll begin your ascent through lush montane rainforest, gradually gaining elevation as you make your way toward Panalaban Base Camp. A packed lunch will be provided for you to enjoy along the way. Climbers must reach Panalaban by 15:00 Hrs to meet the cut-off time. 

Weather permitting, a short acclimatisation hike to the First Viewpoint is included at 15:30 Hrs. This brief ascent provides a stunning preliminary glimpse of the surrounding peaks and supports better adaptation to the altitude. 

After returning to base camp around 17:45 Hrs, enjoy dinner and rest up for the big day ahead.

Day 3 - Low’s Peak Summit / Gurkha Hut / Oyayubi Iwu Peak

The summit ascent begins between 07:00–08:00 Hrs, following breakfast at Laban Rata Restaurant. The journey leads to Low’s Peak, the iconic highest point of Mount Kinabalu at 4,095.2 metres, where you can still enjoy sweeping views above the clouds under the soft morning light.

It will take you approximately 3 hours to arrive at your first peak - Low's Peak, 4,095.2 metres above sea level! Enjoy the surrounding scenery before savouring your packed lunch and continuing towards Gurkha Hut. 

After a brief rest at the hut, prepare for a late-afternoon climb to Oyayubi Iwu Peak, named for its thumb-like formation and located around 4,000 metres above sea level. The journey from Gurkha Hut to Oyayubi Iwu typically takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to complete. 

Return to Gurkha Hut for dinner and your first overnight stay at this high-altitude basecamp.

Day 4 - Alexandra Peak / Victoria Peak / Gurkha Hut

After breakfast and a safety briefing, the morning begins with a climb to Alexandra Peak (3,997.5 metres), which should take about 2 to 3 hours to reach. This rarely explored summit offers dramatic views and a heightened sense of isolation and achievement.

Return to Gurkha Hut by late morning for lunch and a short recovery.

The next summit attempt begins at 13:00 Hrs – this time to the commanding Victoria Peak (4,090 metres), another crown jewel in your multi-summit conquest. You are expected to reach Victoria Peak in about 2 to 3 hours.

Climbers return to Gurkha Hut by 16:00 Hrs for a well-earned dinner and a second night under the stars in Sabah's rugged highlands.

Day 5 - Panalaban Base Camp / Timpohon Gate / Kinabalu Park HQ / Kota Kinabalu

Fuel up with breakfast before preparing for the final descent. Begin the journey back to Panalaban Base Camp by 08:00 Hrs, with an estimated arrival at 11:30 Hrs for a hearty lunch. 

The final stretch takes you back down to Timpohon Gate, arriving around 16:00 Hrs. 

From there, transfer back to Kinabalu Park HQ to receive your certificates before returning to Kota Kinabalu – your epic multi-peak mountaineering adventure ends here.

To ensure a safe and successful expedition, all climbers must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  • Must be aged 18 years or older and be a non-disabled individual 
  • Must undergo a health check at a private or government clinic and receive a medical officer’s recommendation 
  • Must stay overnight near Kinabalu Park at least one day before the climb 
  • Must have an ideal Body Mass Index (BMI) 
  • Must have completed a training climb above 2,000 metres (6,400 feet) within at least one month prior to the expedition date 

Pre-Trip Requirements 

  • Submit proof of completion for a 2,000m elevation climb (Maragang Hill add-on available to satisfy this requirement) 
  • Provide completed medical forms and required documentation upon arrival 
  • Fill and submit a Climber Indemnity Form upon arrival 

On-Expedition Requirements 

During the climb, all participants are expected to: 

  • Meet cut-off times at various checkpoints throughout the trek 
  • Undergo oxygen saturation checks to monitor high-altitude readiness 
  • Adhere to ‘Leave No Trace’ principles by carrying back all personal trash

  • NOT for beginners. This expedition is physically demanding and suitable only for experienced climbers with good fitness levels. A mandatory medical check-up and clearance from a certified doctor is required prior to the climb. 
  • Only 12 climber permits are issued per day – early booking is essential. 
  • All climbers must complete and submit a Climber Indemnity Form prior to the expedition. 
  • Safety is the top priority; all summit attempts are subject to weather and trail conditions. The itinerary provided is a sample and subject to change based on operational or environmental factors. 
  • Meals and accommodation are basic, with up to two nights camping in harsh highland weather. 
  • Default meals at Gurkha Hut are on a self-cook basis; Amazing Borneo provides basic ingredients. Additional supplies incur extra charges. 
  • There is no filtered drinking water at Gurkha Hut – bring your own supply or water treatment tablets. 
  • No refunds will be given if climbers fail to meet pre-trip or on-expedition requirements. 
  • Requests for customised meals may incur additional charges. 
  • Porter service for personal belongings, personal travel insurance, alcoholic beverages, and airfares are not included.  
  • The accommodation for Day 1 of this climb package will be based on Run-Of-House (ROH) basis, which means the room given is determined by provider, according to availability, at the time of check-in. A Private Twin-Share Room will be arranged in any accommodation within Kinabalu Park HQ.
  • Private vehicle transfers can be arranged upon request with additional top-up charges. 
  • Climbers who reach Timpohon Gate after 16:30 Hrs on Day 5 will be imposed a fee of MYR 15 per hour per guide and need to pay directly to mountain guide on the spot.
  • Tipping is like giving a hug. Although it’s never expected, it’s always very much appreciated.
  • Do take note that your MyKad (for Malaysian) / Passport (for Non-Malaysian) will be required for verification during registration at the Kinabalu Park office. Please bring it along with you.
  • Effective as of 1st September 2017, the Tourism and Culture Ministry of Malaysia has implemented a Malaysian Tourism Tax (TTX). Foreign tourists are required to pay a flat rate of MYR 10 per room per night, regardless of accommodation star level. The TTx is to be paid upon check-in. Malaysians or permanent residents residing in Malaysia are exempted from TTx and are required to present a valid identification upon check-in for the exemption.

Our friendly guide will meet you at your hotel lobby / greet you at the Airport arrival hall with a placard bearing your good name. Should you encounter difficulties in locating our guide, you can call our hotline number/s stated in your itinerary for further assistance.

2 We do not recommend climbers to catch your flight on the same day you descend the mountain due to possible delay from injuries, tiredness and/or bad weather and traffic conditions.
3 Additional charges of MYR 80 per pax are applicable for outskirt hotels pick-ups. OutSkirt Charges are applicable for Hotels in One Borneo, Putatan, and within 20km radius of Kota Kinabalu City Centre.
4 All transportations are based on Seat-In-Coach. This is a transfer service in which clients share their vehicle with other clients. This is a door-to-door service with multiple pickups & drop-offs throughout the journey. Do expect some short waiting time.
5 After descending to Kinabalu Park HQ, climbers are subject to pre-determined pickup time set by Amazing Borneo Tours with the last transport returning to Kota Kinabalu city latest by 1930hrs. We will ensure your possible wait of not more than 2 hours at Park HQ. However, if you missed the last transport (which is unlikely) or wish to depart at your own preferred timing, we can arrange a vehicle for private transfer for you (Subject to availability). Please understand that the surcharge for any private transfer will have to be borne by you.

8 Our group rates are quoted without deviation, which means we provide only one return transfers for your group. If your group requires more than one return transfers, additional transfer charges may apply.
9 Baby Car Seats (for infant aged 0-2) and Child Booster Seats (for children aged 3-11) are available for rental. Please check with your tour consultant for availability.

It is recommended that all climbers should have themselves medically checked before attempting any mountain climb. If you have a history of suffering from the following ailments, it is highly recommend that you should refrain from climbing: Hypertension, Diabetes, Palpitation, Arthritis, Heart disease, severe anemia, Peptic ulcers, Epileptic fits, Obesity (overweight), Chronic asthma, Muscular cramps, Hepatitis (jaundice); or any other disease which may hamper the climber.
