Located on the northeastern coast, Sandakan is Sabah's second-largest city and a prime gateway for eco-adventures, brimming with natural beauty. While it may not have the lively atmosphere of Kota Kinabalu, it boasts an abundance of wildlife and natural wonders.
The Kinabatangan River, flowing from southwest Sabah to the Sulu Sea near Sandakan, passes through a range of landscapes, including limestone caves, forests, swamps, and mangroves. These diverse terrains offer plenty of exciting activities for a memorable Borneo holiday.
Situated along the Lower Kinabatangan River, around a 2-hour drive from Sandakan Town, this lodge is elevated on stilts made from local hardwood, harmoniously blending into its natural surroundings. A boardwalk links the jetty, restaurant, and chalets, providing a tranquil retreat and an excellent base for exploring the rich wildlife and plant life in the Kinabatangan region.
Bird lovers will be delighted by the variety of species, such as hornbills, kingfishers, owls, and eagles. Wildlife encounters may include Bornean pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, orangutans, gibbons, and estuarine crocodiles.
