Guest arriving at the Mulu Airport will be transferred to the Marriot Stay for check in. In the late afternoon, you’ll be able to meet your local guide in the lobby and travel together to explore Deer Cave and Lang Cave before enjoying a break on the bat exodus platform and watching the bats emerge from the cave entrance. Then, return to your stay and free at your own leisure.
After breakfast, check out and start your journey by longboat to Batu Bungan – Penan Settlement, then to Clearwater Cave and Cave of the Winds.
Clearwater Cave has a massive entrance, so be prepared to climb some very high stairs to reach it. The local tour guide will go over the cave procedure before you enter the cave. Take a refreshing dip in the cave’s cool stream and soak in the glow of the stalactites and stalagmites that line the cave’s interior.
Next, marvel at the stunning cave formations while feeling the cool air blow through the cave at Cave of the Winds.
For lunch, the group will have a nice picnic in the clearing near the cave's entrance to Clearwater Cave.
Finally, go back on the motorised longboat that will transport you up the Melinau River to Kuala Litut. The boat will need to be pushed over the rocks if the water level is too low for it to float. The 9-kilometer trek from Kuala Litut to Base Camp 5 takes around two to three hours and goes over reasonably level forest terrain. After a restful night at Base Camp 5, enjoy a hearty meal prepared by your local guide.
Have a hearty breakfast before you start your hike to the Pinnacle Summit at approximately six in the morning. From Camp 5 to the Pinnacles lookout, you'll gain around 1,200 metres in elevation while only travelling 2.4 kilometres. The path ascends precipitously into a moss forest after descending through a lowland dipterocarp forest. Little trees remain, and moss grows on almost everything else. The trail is littered with sharp pieces of limestone, so hikers should make sure to always be cautious.
Due to the difficulty of the trail's final stretch, 15 aluminum ladders and a rope portion have been strategically placed along the path. The ascent is likely to take you four or five hours.
Prepare to depart Base Camp 5 after breakfast. To get back to where you started, you'll hike nine kilometres to Kuala Litut and then take a longboat ride down the Melinau River and back to the National Park.
Transfer to Mulu Airport and prepare for your departure.
