4D3N Borneo Rainforest & River Safari: Labuk Bay, Sepilok Orangutan, Kinabatangan, and Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Upon your arrival at Sandakan Airport, our friendly guide will meet you and transfer you to your Sandakan accommodation for check-in. 

In the afternoon, you'll head to Labuk Bay Proboscis Sanctuary, where you can trek to observe the feeding of the unique Proboscis Monkeys and elusive Silver Leaf Langurs. 

Return to your Sandakan accommodation for an overnight stay. 

Begin your day with a pick-up from your accommodation, then travel to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Upon arrival, watch a short video about the centre’s rehabilitation efforts for orphaned and rescued orangutans.

Continue along the boardwalk through the rainforest to the feeding platform, where you’ll have the chance to see orangutans and other primates during their feeding session. Then, visit the enclosed nursery, where young orangutans are trained in essential survival skills before being released into the wild.

Optional: Visit the nearby Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre, home to the world’s smallest bear (entry fee payable on the spot). Guests who opt not to visit the Sun Bear Centre may experience a short waiting time (approximately 45 minutes) while others complete their visit.

After lunch, depart for Sukau Rainforest Lodge, a multi-award-winning eco-lodge renowned for its commitment to conservation. Depending on your room type, travel either by a 2.5-hour boat ride along the Kinabatangan River, offering scenic views and wildlife sightings, or by a 2-hour overland transfer.

Once you’ve checked in, head out on a late afternoon river cruise to look for wildlife and bird species native to the area.

End your day with dinner at Melapi Restaurant, followed by a presentation by a naturalist guide who will share more about the surrounding rainforest and its wildlife.

Start your morning with a river cruise on the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap Oxbow Lake, where you can observe a variety of birds and wildlife. 

After breakfast, take a guided nature walk along the lodge's Hornbill Boardwalk with an in-house naturalist. 

Enjoy some free time after lunch. 

In the afternoon, embark on another river cruise to continue your wildlife spotting. 

After breakfast, check out and transfer by speedboat back to Sandakan. 

Upon arrival in Sandakan, stop for lunch. 

For those with afternoon flights, you'll be transferred to the airport for your 1430hrs flight to Kota Kinabalu. 

For evening flights, you'll have the opportunity to visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre, where you can enjoy views from the canopy walk and hanging bridge, and explore the botanical garden before heading to Sandakan Airport for your flight.
