Sample itinerary

Day 1 - Lahad Datu / INFAPRO / Afternoon Safari Drive / Danum Valley Field Centre / Guided Jungle Trekking / INFAPRO / Night Safari Drive

(Note: The itinerary provided is a sample and is subject to changes based on weather, wildlife, and guest fitness. Your guide will make adjustments to ensure optimal experiences and safety throughout the tour.) 

Meet your guide in Lahad Datu by 08:30 Hrs for a scenic 2.5-hour drive through the lush landscapes of Sabah to reach INFAPRO, a conservation base focused on rainforest restoration. 

After a warm welcome and check-in to the comfortable INFAPRO resthouses, enjoy a hearty lunch and take a short break. 

In the afternoon, set off on your first 4x4 safari drive into Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC), a biodiversity hotspot teeming with primates, hornbills, and more. 

With your nature guide, explore rainforest trails and get your first taste of the jungle’s sights, sounds, and scents. 

Return to INFAPRO before dusk for dinner, then embark on a night drive in search of nocturnal species such as civets, frogs, and vipers.

Day 2 - Morning Safari Drive / Danum Valley Field Centre / Guided Nature Walk / Afternoon Safari Drive / Night Walk / Night Safari Drive

Rise at dawn for an early morning safari drive back to DVFC, the perfect time to spot shy or active wildlife before the forest heats up. 

Enjoy a packed breakfast amid the natural surroundings before continuing on foot for a guided nature walk, with your guide interpreting tracks, birdcalls, and signs of larger mammals. 

After returning to INFAPRO for lunch, head out again for an afternoon safari drive to cover more ground and trails, deepening your rainforest immersion. 

As the sun sets, join a night walk to explore the forest by torchlight, followed by a relaxed 4x4 night drive for a final glimpse of Borneo’s nocturnal life.

Day 3 - Bukit Atur Sunrise / INFAPRO / Lahad Datu

Begin your last day with a pre-dawn excursion to Bukit Atur, a panoramic lookout offering sweeping views of the mist-laced rainforest canopy. Witness the sunrise casting golden light over the treetops, a breathtaking finale to your Danum Valley experience. 

Return to INFAPRO for breakfast and some leisure time before checking out at 09:30 Hrs. 

Transfer back to Lahad Datu for your onward travel – your tour ends here.

  • This package is exclusively for budget travellers who love nature. Please expect all facilities in INFAPRO to be very basic in comparison to Borneo Rainforest Lodge. 
  • INFAPRO is part of a live restoration initiative, helping to restore logged areas in the Danum Valley Conservation Area. By staying here, guests support environmental regeneration efforts and contribute to long-term ecological recovery. 
  • The accommodation at INFAPRO offers larger and more comfortable rooms compared to Danum Valley Field Centre (DVFC). Amenities are basic and practical, suitable for eco-travellers who value space, privacy, and uninterrupted access to power. 
  • The itinerary provided is a sample and may vary depending on weather conditions, wildlife activity, and guest fitness levels. Night drives and hikes are weather-permitting and subject to guide discretion. 
  • Transfer between Lahad Datu and INFAPRO is approximately 2 hours by 4x4 vehicle.
