Sample itinerary

Day 1 - Kota Kinabalu / Kota Belud / Kampung Sayap / Aura Montoria

  • It’s an early start to the day as we leave Kota Kinabalu for Kampung Sayap at 06:30 hrs. 
  • After 1.5 to 2 hours, we’ve reached Porohon Garden Lodge in Kampung Sayap! Check into the lodge and have a short rest before starting our hike on the Aura Montoria trail. 
  • Upon arrival at the Aura Montoria campsite, packed lunch will be served. 
  • Go on a 10-minute trek to the nearest waterfall for a cliff-jumping experience! 
  • After some cliff jumps, hike back to the starting point of the Aura Montoria trail. 
  • Head back to Porohon Garden Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2 - Kowatuan Trail / Camp by the Waterfalls

  • Rise and shine! It’s time to get ready for the day’s hike with a nutritious, local breakfast. 
  • After breakfast, make way to the starting point of Kowatuan Trail to start our hike with a full view of Mount Kinabalu & Mount Nopungguk Lituk. 
  • Have lunch at the campsite, located at halfway point with a picturesque view of one of the 10 waterfalls along the way. 
  • After lunch, explore the rest of the waterfalls located along the trail. 
  • Make way back to the campsite and set up camp for the night. 
  • Enjoy a delicious, local dinner and overnight at the trail's campsite.

Day 3 - Kowatuan Trail / Kota Belud / Kota Kinabalu

  • Wake up to the sounds of nature and the rushing waterfalls! 
  • After preparing breakfast and packing up, hike back to Kampung Sayap where we will have lunch. 
  • (Optional) After lunch, you may take a guided tour of the local community school, which is where most of the proceeds from tourist activities conducted in Kampung Sayap are given to. 
  • It’s time to say goodbye to the friendly people of Kampung Sayap! Transfer back to Kota Kinabalu via Kota Belud.

  • Accommodation is clean and well maintained - however, very basic. Bringing along a sleeping bag is not necessary, but you may do so for extra comfort.
  • Overnight necessities such as towels, and basic toiletries is necessary to bring along. 
  • Food is of good quality.  Do take note that it is prepared locally by the local people, so there are limitations if you have special dietary requirements.
  • Effective as of 1st September 2017, the Tourism and Culture Ministry of Malaysia will be implementing a Malaysian Tourism Tax (TTX). Foreign tourists will be required to pay a flat rate of MYR 10 per room per night regardless of accommodation star level. The TTx is to be paid upon check-in. Malaysians or permanent residents residing in Malaysia are exempted from TTx and is required to present a valid identification upon check-in for the exemption. The TTX is applicable to certain types of accommodation only. Please check with us to see if TTX is applicable to your accommodation.
  • This package is based on join-in basis of shared guide and transport vehicle. Private Guide or Tour is available upon request at a reasonable fee. Please inform us when making the bookings.

  • Make sure you always have enough dry bags and think about ways of keeping your equipment dry as the rainforest can be quite unpredictable and wet items will be extremely hard to dry or air out.
