Sample itinerary

Day 1 - Kota Kinabalu / Rampayan Jetty / Mantanani Island / Snorkelling / Sunset & Night Walk

  • You will be picked up from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu and embark on a 2-hour drive northeast to reach Rampayan jetty. Here, a safety briefing will be conducted, and you will take a speedboat ride to Mantanani island. On the way, enjoy a river tour and look out for wildlife in the mangrove lining the riverbank. Then, you will enter the ocean and head towards the island. The boat ride will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour depending on sea conditions. 
  • Upon arrival at Mantanani island, you’ll be greeted by a long stretch of soft sandy white beach. You’ll register at Nido Lodge and prepare for departure out for snorkeling. There will be either one or two snorkeling points, depending on weather conditions.  
  • After the snorkeling sessions, proceed to lunch and then check in to your room. There are beach swings, gazebos, glass kayaks and hammocks at the lodge for customers leisure usage.  
  • In the evening, if you are interested to join a guided sunset walk, gather at Nido Lodge café at 17:30 Hrs. You may purchase fresh seafood from the local villages. At the lodge, cooking service for a seafood dinner is provided.  
  • At 21:30 Hrs, join the guided night walk to discover the magical “Blue Tears”, a stunning sight of glowing ocean waters. Be amazed with this natural phenomenon which turns seawaters into an electric neon blue as it washes up on beach.  
  • Return to Nido Lodge after the night walk and relax. The café is open until 23:30 Hrs and you will be able to plan and book the next day’s activities, such as Discovery Scuba Diving or Leisure Diving.

Day 2 - Nido Lodge / Rampayan Jetty / Kota Kinabalu

  • From 07:00 Hrs to 09:30 Hrs, breakfast is served.
  • Check out and store your luggage. You may go for dives or have a free and easy leisure time on the island.
  • After lunch at the café, you will depart Mantanani island and arrive back at Rampayan jetty. We will then transfer you back to your hotel.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

  • Breakfast is included for all overnight stays. Other meals are not included and can be purchased at the cafe ala carte style.
  • The snorkeling session must be utilised on day of arrival.
  • Maximum occupancy in the room is 3 persons (1 Extra mattress on the floor)
  • The room rate includes lodging, breakfast and guest insurance and is exclusive of tourist tax. Additional meals, amenities and services are available at extra cost.  
  • Security deposit of MYR100 per room is required upon check-in and will be refunded upon check-out [less deductions for damaged or lost items (if any) or for other lawful deductions.
  • Kind take note that electricity supply is from 18:00 Hrs  – 06:00 Hrs only.
  • Boat journey to the island may not be suitable for individuals who have any of the following conditions but not limited to: heart or lung conditions, recent surgery, back or spinal surgery, back problems/injury/fracture, arthritis, osteoporosis or other similar spinal/pelvic diseases. Pregnant women are not recommended to join this tour as the boat ride may be bumpy depending on the sea condition. If you are having similar issues as above, kindly consult your physician before you join this tour.
  • We do not encourage you to book your flight on the day you depart Mantanani Island back to Kota Kinabalu. This is due to unpredictable sea and weather conditions that may result in delay of boat departure from Mantanani Island to the mainland. 
  • In the event if we encounter bad weather condition or unforeseen circumstances which render cancellation of last boat transfer out of the island for safety reasons; all relevant lodging costs for the overnight stay will be arranged and paid for by the resort in lieu of the cost staying in Mantanani. There will be no further claims or refunds for such incidental circumstances.
  • Liability Release Form must be understood and signed by the participant before the tour commences.
  • Weather conditions: Snorkeling and scuba diving activities are weather dependent.
  • Standard check-in and check-out times for most hotels & resorts are 14:00 Hrs & 12:00 Hrs. However, check-in & check-out times may vary depending on each accommodation. So kindly check with us to get accurate check-in & check-out times of your accommodation.
  • Effective as of 1st September 2017, the Tourism and Culture Ministry of Malaysia will be implementing a Malaysian Tourism Tax (TTX). Foreign tourists will be required to pay a flat rate of MYR 10 per room per night regardless of accommodation star level.The TTx is to be paid upon check-in. Malaysians or permanent residents residing in Malaysia are exempted from TTx and is required to present a valid identification upon check-in for the exemption.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • This package is based on join-in basis of shared guide and transport vehicle.  Private Guide or Tour is available upon request at a reasonable fee.  Please inform us when making the bookings.
  • For safety reasons, the trip may get cancelled or revert halfway if the weather or sea condition is deemed unsafe for the journey to proceed. Therefore, we do not recommend you go on this trip if it is the same day as your departure flight in the event the weather does not permit for the boat transfer to return to the mainland on the same day.
  • Should any unforeseen circumstances arise, we recommend you to carefully set out your own schedule with some leeway to ensure you do not miss your next activity.
  • Departure time is approximate and varies from different hotels due to traffic conditions, please reconfirm with our staffs. Should the transport be delayed, please call the relevant telephone number as stated on the voucher before making alternative arrangements.

USEFUL TRAVEL TIPS

  • Your belongings may get wet. You can bring along waterproof bags such as dry bags or plastic bags to keep your belongings nice and dry!
  • Before going out for some fun in the sun, you may bring along some SPF50 sunscreen and an umbrella to protect your skin.
