Arrive at Sandakan Airport, where your guide will meet you for the transfer to Sepilok, home to some of Sabah’s most well-known conservation centres.
Your first visit is to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Catch the morning feeding session at 10:00 Hrs, when orangutans emerge from the surrounding forest to the feeding platform. Before heading out to the boardwalk, spend some time at the Nature Education Centre to understand how rescued and orphaned orangutans are rehabilitated before being released back into the wild.
A short walk brings you to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, dedicated to protecting the smallest bear species in the world. From the viewing areas, observe the sun bears as they roam within their forest enclosures and learn about ongoing conservation efforts.
After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to the Rainforest Discovery Centre. Take a leisurely walk along its elevated canopy walkway and explore the surrounding gardens and forest trails, offering a different perspective of the tropical rainforest.
In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local seafood restaurant before checking in to Hotel Sandakan for the night.
Begin your morning with breakfast at Hotel Sandakan before setting out for the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, located within a mangrove forest reserve on the outskirts of town.
Here, you will have the opportunity to observe proboscis monkeys during their scheduled feeding session. Watch how they move between the trees and platforms, and take note of their distinctive features and social behaviour within their natural surroundings.
After the visit, return to Sandakan for lunch at a local restaurant. The tour concludes with a transfer to Sandakan Airport for your onward journey.
