Sample itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Tawau Airport / Transfer to Semporna / Check-In

Upon arrival at Tawau Airport, you will be transferred directly to Semporna. The journey takes approximately 1hr drive.  

Once reaching Semporna, you will check in to your accommodation.

Day 2 - Bohey Dulang Hike & Sibuan & Mantabuan Islands Explorer

Meet at Semporna Jetty after breakfast. You will make your way to Bohey Dulang Island by speedboat. The journey takes roughly 30 mins. Upon arrival, you can begin your ascent up the 353m long hike to the peak of the volcanic crater, where gorgeous vistas of the neighbouring islands and lush turquoise water await you. 

Upon completing the hike, have an early lunch break with packed lunch. 

It’s time to get back on the boat to your next stop at Mantabuan Island for your first snorkeling session. Jump right into the clear blue waters where you may witness sightings of manta, devil and eagle rays as well as passing sea turtles.  

Continue to Sibuan Island, just next door, where you can relax and recharge on its sandy beach or enjoy a bit of snorkeling from the shoreline. Check with your guide about exploring the local Bajau Laut (‘Sea Gypsies’) village, where you can find fishermen selling fresh coconut juice. 

Return to Semporna town.

Day 3 - Mataking, Pom Pom & Pandanan Island Explorer

After breakfast, meet at Semporna Jetty and board the speedboat to your first stop, Pom Pom Island.

After suiting up and a quick briefing, begin your first snorkeling session in Pom Pom’s calm, clear waters. Keep an eye out for colourful reef fish and sea turtles around the island.

Continue to Pandanan Island, where the shallow reefs and hard coral gardens offer another rewarding snorkeling experience.

Enjoy a packed lunch before heading to Mataking Island. Here, you can discover a mix of schooling fish and fascinating macro life during your final boat snorkeling session.

Boat transfer back to Semporna town.

Day 4 - Transfer from Semporna to Tawau Airport / Depart from Tawau Airport

Upon check out from your accommodation, you will be transferred to Tawau Airport for your flight.  

Bid goodbye to beautiful Semporna as you depart on your onward journey!

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

  • For Bohey Dulang Hike,
    • Kindly prepare RM50 in cash to cover the Ranger Fee at Bohey Dulang. This fee applies to groups of 1-6 pax. 
    • Sneakers or hiking boots are COMPULSORY for hiking. Sandals, flip-flops, and croc slippers are strictly not allowed. Sabah Parks has the right to ban hikers with improper shoewear. 
    • The shoe rental kiosk is no longer operating, so please remember to bring your own shoes.
    • In case of rain and the cancellation of the Bohey Dulang hiking, we will swap the activity to a snorkelling session.
    • Due to the limited number of rangers available, the waiting time can be 1-2 hours, depending on the time it took for the other groups to return to the foothill.
    • Children below 6 years old are not allowed to join the hiking activity.
    • Please be ready at the boat departure point at 8:00AM. 
  • Boat journey to the Island(s) may not be suitable for individuals who have any of the following conditions but not limited to: heart or lung conditions, recent surgery, back or spinal surgery, back problems/injury/fracture, arthritis, osteoporosis or other similar spinal/pelvic diseases.   
  • Pregnant women are also not recommended as the boat ride may be bumpy depending on the sea condition. If you are having similar issues as above, kindly consult your physician before you enroll in this activity.  
  • Please do not bring valuables as there are no lockers on the islands.  
  • Be a responsible snorkeler to protect our marine ecosystem.  
    • If we deem your snorkeling skills or attitude may bring harm to the marine life or other guests, the crew has the right to stop you from participating in this activity.  
    • It is strictly prohibited to remove, pick up, step on, or destroy any marine life during the trip.  
    • Do not snorkel separately from the group and follow the crew’s instructions. Failure to do so will result in the crew stopping you from participating in the activity and no refunds will be made. 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • You will be responsible for obtaining your own visas to enter Sabah. 
  • Flights to and from Semporna will be at your own arrangement. Contact our Tour Consultants if you need assistance. 
  • You are strongly recommended to have your own personal travel insurance while traveling, to ensure a peace of mind. 
  • Your safety is our top priority. Should the weather or sea conditions render it unsafe to proceed for this tour, Amazing Borneo Tours reserves the right to change or cancel tour. 
  • If an accident(s) were to occur during the trip, all customers must return to the dive centre together. No refunds or change of date will be made. 
  • Departure time is approximate and varies from different hotels so please do reconfirm with our staffs. Please call the relevant telephone number as stated on the voucher before making alternative arrangements. 
  • Effective 1 January 2026, the use of single-use plastic bags is strictly prohibited in all Sabah Parks. This policy is implemented to safeguard the natural environment and protect both marine and forest ecosystems from pollution and long-term harm. Visitors are required to bring their own reusable eco bags when entering any Sabah Parks area.

USEFUL TRAVEL TIPS

  • Your belongings may get wet. You can bring along waterproof bags such as dry bags or plastic bags to keep your belongings nice and dry. 
  • Before going out for some fun in the sun, you may bring along some environmental-friendly SPF50 sunscreen and an umbrella to shield you from the sun.
